Velda Pond Plant Sock Large - 15 x 80cm

As a first time trying a sock, during handling I found the flexibility meant gravel didn't sit on top of the soil and trap it as well as in a basket, leaving soil pretty free to float out. I might be missing a technique but I'll stick with baskets for the ease in future. The quality of fabric and sewing seem good, but I feel the closure design could be improved to contain more securely, including more press studs. Speculatively, the closed design might make the inside less homely for some pondlife, but OTOH the fabric's friction means rocks rest on it nicely (which other pondlife use). An interesting experiment that needs a year to conclude.

The pond socks are such a good idea, far more flexible in contrast to rigid pots, making it easier to make a natural-looking planting. The plants have done really well in them despite the recent dry weather in the south east. Although the socks have pop studs to separate the plants, I have undone these once the plants have started to grow and spread for a more natural look.

Does what it says on the tin. Good value.

I like the idea of this. it is useful to hold several plants at once.

This is a poor design , it's very difficult to fasten the studs - we had to use pliers! Ties would be better
