PondHero Sludge Muncher Pond Vacuum and Discharge Basket Offer

This pond vacuum is very effective with excellent suction power. It cleaned out the debris and fine silt from my pond easily and quickly. There are 3 different suction nozzles, as well as 4 pipe extensions which provide a long reach. You get 2 mesh filter bags to use for the pond, one for trapping larger particles, which fits inside the water collection tank, and another much finer mesh bag, which you attach to the end of the water discharge pipe for filtering out the fine silt. It switches off every 30 seconds to allow the collected water to be emptied from the 35 litre tank and then automatically restarts again after a further 30 seconds. Some people negatively commented about this on the reviews, however I found it useful, as it allowed me to check the area I had vacuumed, allowing me to reposition the suction nozzle in a different area before it restarted. This feature also helped me to regularly check and manage how much water I was removing from the pond (if you don't want the water to be directly discharged back in to the pond from the outlet pipe). You can of course let the filtered water return directly back to the pond by placing the outlet pipe, with mesh filter attached, in to the PondXpert discharge basket (which I bought along with the vacuum) and the water then builds up and drains from the basket outlet into the pond by placing the basket at the pond edge (if your pond is as ground level). You will need to make sure the vacuum is positioned higher than the discharge pipe to allow the water to run out of the pipe. This is easily achieved by placing the vacuum on a garden table or chair, or any raised surface. I am very impressed with this purchase, particularly for the price when compared to other pond vacuums with similar specification that are far more expensive. I would definitely recommend the Sludge Muncher pond vacuum and PondXpert discharge basket combo deal, particularly if you are on a tight budget, but want something which is effective, robust and certainly up to the job.

I had problems with the delivery. Pondkeeper refunded the delivery cost and gave me 10% compensation when it wasn't even their fault. Very impressed. I always use Pondkeeper.

Whilst the vac is OK for smaller ponds the discharge basket is pretty useless. In order for it all to function as a whole the vac not only has to be above the pond surface water level (which is fine) it will also have to be much higher in order to be able to discharge into the basket, so a further 45cm or so. Also, the discharge basket has no outlet hose so its impossible to return the filtered water back into the pond. Therefore a waste of money.
